Kim Atkinson and Danielle Davis

Kim Atkinson and Danielle Davis are the co-creators of the Images of Learning Project, an exhibit, blog and presentations that highlight the competencies of children and the valuable, complex work of ECE’s. They have travelled throughout BC to speak at colleges, universities, and conferences, and have worked with school districts and community partners to facilitate long term professional development to engage elementary teachers and ECE’s in reflective practice and thinking with pedagogical narrations. Together they created the Provocation Studio at the Victoria CCRR, a space to challenge educators to re-think materials and environments in early years settings.

Outside their work with the Images of Learning Project, Danielle spearheads a preschool program that challenges normative assumptions of “quality”, working instead with extended inquiry questions and a pedagogy of listening. Kim is a Pedagogical Facilitator with the Unit for Early Research and Development at the University of Victoria, and a writer whose work has been published nationally and internationally.

In all of their projects Kim and Danielle work to generate dialogue and new thinking by engaging participants to reflect on their values about education, knowledge and the image of young children as citizens.
