It's National Crayon Day - and it's not just for kids

 

Today is National Crayon Day. This random "holiday" is more than a Crayola marketing ploy. It is a day to be reminded that coloring isn't just for children — and it isn't just for fun. Coloring reduces stress and anxiety and increases creativity in adults, according to research.

Coloring requires focus, which takes people's minds off of the worries and list of things to do. It also brings adults back to their childhood, a time they remember as simpler and carefree. Like a grilled cheese sandwich or mac and cheese, coloring is comfort.
